This August, take a walk downtown and search for Belva and Draper!  These two dogs will be placed in a storefront window display somehwere in downtown Owego.  If you know where they are, stop by the Riverrow Bookstore 187 Front St., the Tioga Arts Council 179 Front St. or the Tioga Tourism office 80 North Ave. and enter to win!  Names of the winners will be drawn from the sucessful seekers every Thursday at the Farm to Fork Evening Market and Supper Series held from 4 to 6pm at the deck on Front St. in Owego.  Winners will be drawn from two pools, one for Belva and one for Draper.  Each winner receives two free movie tickets to the Tioga Theater in Owego.  

Belva and Draper are named after prominent Owego citizens: Belva Ann Lockwood who was an educator, attorney, politician, head of a girl’s seminary and the first women to run for president in the United States, making the national ballot in 1884 and running again in 1888.  Amos Draper was a fur trader who opened a trading post along the Susquehanna in 
1787 and became instrumental in the founding of Owego. Draper Park, across from the Parkview, is named after him.

The Historic Owego Marketplace welcomes the return of spring with fun events in May! On May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, Owego's downtown merchants throw open their doors for the spring sidewalk sales. You'll find festive street sales galore and plenty of new merchandise to choose from. Stay in town on May 2nd and join us for Owego's 1st Friday ArtWalk from 5 to 8 PM. Check out the incredible art on display, listen to our finest musicians, visit our shops and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of our many restaurants.

ANNUAL STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL - Third Friday and Saturday in June. The Festival has grown since 1980 to include about 200 arts and crafts and food vendors, new entertainment, Friday Night Block Party, wine tasting tent, fireworks and more. November 16, 2013 - 9 am-5 pm. Get in the holiday spirit as Owego merchants create a festive downtown with music, Santa, entertainment and special sales and savings throughout the shopping district. A huge variety of gift and home items from over 80 different businesses. 

lights in trees2LIGHTS ON THE RIVER FESTIVALFirst Friday in December - 5:30-9:00 p.m. Come see the lights downtown through the first week in January. The Downtown Owego streets come alive with lights and holiday decorations! Music and entertainment throughout the downtown area. Feel the real old-fashioned spirit of Christmas as stores and restaurants offer special gifts and music to delight the shoppers. Fireworks finale - the best!
